Ask ChatGPT for the best AI visibility tools. You will hear Profound, Peec AI, and Otterly. Not because those products hid a secret ranking factor. Because third-party listicles already named them. Models copy consensus.
If you sell into this category, getting onto those roundups is distribution. It is also how you show up in the answers those roundups train.
This post is a playbook. I am writing it for any tool that is missing from the tables, including us. AI SEO Tracker is not on the pages below. That is the gap. The fix is not a hundred cold emails. It is a short list of real URLs, a page those writers can cite, and one useful pitch.
In this guide, you'll learn:
- Why listicles move ChatGPT more than your homepage
- The roundups that currently define the category
- What those pages actually require
- How to pitch without being junk
- What to build on your own site first
Use the sections below as the outreach list. Do not turn it into a blast.
Does AI name you?
See if AI mentions your brand. Then get the pages to fix.

Why listicles move ChatGPT more than your homepage
LLMs do not "rank" ten blue links. They synthesize a shortlist from pages that already agree.
Ahrefs found that only a small share of URLs cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot also sit in Google's top 10 for the same query. Consensus on the open web (Reddit, reviews, best-of posts) carries more weight for ChatGPT than your own product page repeating that you are the best.
LLM SEO said this in one line: lock the category name, then get cited in listicles. A homepage is one source. A Zapier roundup is a source the model has seen next to Profound and Otterly hundreds of times.
That is why this page exists as both a guide and our own next step. We need the same placements we are telling you to earn.
The roundups that currently define the category
These are live URLs as of 31 August 2026. They are the ones that keep teaching models the shortlist. Pitch the page, not a random @ on X.
Tier 1: high-authority "best of" posts models already cite
| Publication | URL | Notes for a pitch |
|---|---|---|
| Zapier | zapier.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-tool | Independent "best apps" list. Profound, Otterly, Peec, ZipTie, Similarweb, Semrush, Ahrefs, Clearscope. They do not sell a tracker. Strongest editorial target. |
| Ahrefs | ahrefs.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-tools | 15 tools. Includes Ahrefs Brand Radar (disclosed). Waikay, Profound, Peec, Scrunch, RankScale, and others. They update. |
| Semrush | semrush.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-tools | 8 tools. Semrush first, then Peec, Profound, HubSpot AEO, Writesonic. They will not unseat themselves. You can still earn a row if you fill a gap they named (low-cost entry, engine coverage, fix workflow). |
| Frase | frase.io/blog/the-10-best-ai-visibility-tools-in-2026 | Frase ranks Frase first. Still a cited URL. Profound, Peec, Semrush, Otterly, ZipTie sit on the table. |
| TechnologyAdvice | technologyadvice.com/blog/sales/best-aeo-tools | AEO software list. HubSpot, Semrush, Profound, Botify, Ahrefs, Peec, Scrunch, Conductor. Software-review motion. They have a process. Use it. |
| Rankmax | rankmax.com.au/seo-tools/best-ai-visibility-tools | 12 tools, updated 26 Aug 2026. Semrush, Ahrefs, Profound, SE Ranking, Peec, Otterly, Scrunch, AthenaHQ. Author says to get in touch if a tool is missing. That is an explicit invite. |
Tier 2: still in the training mix, still worth one note
| Publication | URL | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Unite.AI | unite.ai/series/best-of | Index of their "10 Best AI Visibility Tools for Tracking Brand Mentions and Citations (August 2026)." The series page is public. The article itself may sit behind their usual "best of" slug pattern. Pitch Antoine Tardif's series, not a random Unite.AI news post. |
| The Guide X | theguidex.com/insights/ai-visibility-tools | 13 trackers with "real entry price" and engine gates. They read vendor pages. Bring facts they can verify. |
| Reporter Outreach | reporteroutreach.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-tools | Hostile to vendor-written #1s. If you pitch, lead with what your entry plan actually includes. |
| Lil Big Things | lilbigthings.com/post/best-ai-visibility-tools-in-2026-12-platforms-compared | 12-platform compare. Shortlist is Otterly, Peec, Profound, Ahrefs, Semrush. A fifth dedicated tracker with public pricing is the hole. |
I could not verify a current tech-coffee or Marqeable URL that matches those names. I am not inventing a domain. If you have the live link from your own tracker, add it to the pitch list. Do not spray a guessed hostname.
Do not pitch every "top 10" that ranks itself #1 and has no author. Those pages do not get cited. They waste the one email the real editors will tolerate.
What those pages actually require
Read the table on the target post before you write a word.
Zapier's list groups by job: enterprise, affordability, suggestions, reporting, SEO+GEO, existing Semrush users, Ahrefs users, content. If you cannot say which row you belong in, you do not belong yet.
Ahrefs lists pricing, USP, and models tracked. If you cannot fill those three cells with facts from your own pricing page, the writer has to invent them. They will skip you instead.
Semrush's table has Choose if / Skip if. Write your own two lines in that shape. Example for us:
- Choose if you want a $49 five-engine audit you keep, then weekly tracking from $79/mo, MCP, and Page Inspector on the higher plan.
- Skip if you need nine engines, prompt-demand indexes, or a content-agent farm.
TechnologyAdvice is a software review shop. They want a category, a starting price, and a "best for." They already scored HubSpot, Semrush, Profound, Peec. Your angle is the empty cell: self-serve audit, five engines at the floor price, no ChatGPT-only bait.
Rankmax says they test tools themselves and will add a missed one. That is the easiest first email: "You updated 26 Aug 2026. Here is a login and a one-page fact sheet."
Every one of these posts already contains Profound, Peec, or Otterly. You are asking to be the extra row, not the new #1. Ego pitches die.
How to pitch without being junk
One editor. One URL. One paragraph they can paste.
Do
- Link the exact post (the URLs above).
- Name the gap in their table. "Your Zapier list has no self-serve five-engine audit under $100. We are that row."
- Give three verifiable facts: engines, public price, who it is for.
- Offer a guest login or a recorded 4-minute walkthrough. Writers do not want a 45-minute demo.
- Point at a comparison page they can cite: AI SEO Tracker vs Profound vs Peec vs Otterly.
- Say you will not follow up twice. Then do not.
Do not
- BCC 40 "hello team" mails
- Ask to replace Profound at #1
- Quote a price that is not on your pricing page
- Attach a 12-page PDF
- Offer payment for a rank (if they take it, the page is worthless to models anyway)
- Pitch a post that was last updated in 2024 unless you have a new fact they missed
Subject lines that match how these posts are maintained
- "Missing row for [Post title]: five engines, public $49 audit"
- "Update for your AI visibility table (engines + who it's for)"
- "You invited missing tools: fact sheet + login"
Body, short
You list Profound, Peec, and Otterly in {URL}.
The table has no self-serve tracker that runs ChatGPT, Perplexity,
Gemini, Copilot, and AI Overviews from a $49 audit (then $79/mo).
Facts you can verify on aiseotracker.com/pricing:
- Engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews
- $49 one-time audit (50 prompts), tracking from $79/mo
- MCP; Page Inspector on the higher plan
- Who it's for: small SEO teams who want a kept report, not an
enterprise agent suite
Comparison they can cite:
https://aiseotracker.com/blog/ai-visibility-tracker-comparison
Happy to send a login. I will not chase this twice.
That is the whole email. If they ignore it, the page was not going to include you this cycle. Ship a better product page and wait for the next update. Ahrefs and Rankmax both show update dates. Recheck quarterly. Do not re-pitch weekly.
What to build on your own site first
Writers copy what they can verify in five minutes. If your site cannot fill their table, the pitch is early.
Minimum set:
- Public pricing with engines at each tier. Profound's $99 Starter is ChatGPT-only. Say your floor clearly so they do not paste a wrong cell.
- A comparison URL that names the incumbents without fake prices. We published that here: tracker comparison.
- A definition page for the category you want to own. LLM SEO, AEO, AEO metrics.
- How-to pages that match queries the listicles already rank for: monitor ChatGPT brand mentions, Perplexity citations.
- One screenshot of the actual report, not a fictional dashboard.
Zapier and Ahrefs will not scrape your Notion. They will skim /pricing and one blog URL.
Also fix the boring entity work. Same product name, same one-line description, same engines list on the homepage, docs, and G2 (if you have it). Models reconcile those strings. Listicles copy them.
A sequence for the next 30 days (ours, reusable)
This is the plan I would run for AI SEO Tracker. Steal it.
| Week | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Freeze a one-pager: engines, $49 / $79, who it's for, skip-if. Publish the comparison post. |
| 1 | Email Rankmax (they asked). Email Zapier's "best apps" contact or the author on the 2026 post. |
| 2 | Submit TechnologyAdvice's vendor process if they have a form. One Ahrefs blog tip form or author note. |
| 2 | Do not email Semrush to knock Semrush off row 1. Offer a "best dedicated tracker under $100" gap only if their template has that column. |
| 3 | Frase and Unite.AI series: one note each, facts only. |
| 3 | Recheck which of the tier-1 posts updated. Log the date. |
| 4 | If nobody replies, stop mailing. Improve the public rankings page and the $49 audit so the next writer who Googles the category hits a citable page. |
Five emails. Not fifty. The goal is a row on two or three pages that already get cited, not a mention on a spam blog that models ignore.
How you will know it worked
Do not use "we sent 12 pitches" as the KPI.
Use:
- A new referring path from one of the URLs in the tables above
- Your brand string appearing in a ChatGPT answer to "best AI visibility tools" on an unbranded prompt (see ChatGPT brand monitoring)
- A citation URL on Perplexity that is the listicle, not only your homepage
- Engine split in AI SEO Tracker: ChatGPT mention rate on that prompt family, before vs after the live placement
Expect lag. A Zapier update this month may not change ChatGPT this week. Training-plus-retrieval is messy. Give it a few weekly scans. If the listicle went live and ChatGPT still omits you after a month, the post is either not being retrieved or your row is too thin to quote. Ask for a clearer "best for" cell, not a higher rank.
If you are not a tool vendor
Same mechanics apply to any category. Find the three roundups that already appear as sources when you ask ChatGPT for "best X." Pitch those, not a directory of 80 blogs. Bring a fact the current table lacks. Offer a way to verify.
The model is not a judge. It is a summarizer of pages like these. Get on the pages. Then measure. That is the whole AEO loop, minus the slogans.
