It's an average. Not today's rank. But it's Google's own number, so check every paid tool against it.

How to Choose a Rank Tracker

I open mine every Monday morning.

If a keyword drops, I see it days before GA4 shows the traffic dip.

I've tested 20+ of these on real client work. Check four things before you pay:

1. Search the pricing page for the engine name. Not the homepage. The pricing page.
2. Find which plan has it. Semrush has Grok. On Enterprise.
3. Find how it counts. Keywords? Units? Credits?
4. Compare it with Search Console. A big gap is a red flag.

And two more:

• "Real-time" often isn't. Some tools show cached data from days ago.
• Position 1 isn't always the top. A featured snippet or AI Overview can sit above you.

I like:

• Good keyword difficulty scores

I don't like:

• Weekly rank updates. Never daily
• Brand Radar AI is a separate bill

Price: Monthly: Lite $129 (750 keywords), Standard $249 (2,000), Advanced $449 (5,000).

Verdict: Buy it if links drive your SEO. Not for daily rank checks.

3. Semrush

Best for: teams who want everything in one tool

The closest thing to an all-in-one.

The SEO plan has Position Tracking. Higher plans add 50, 100 or 200 AI prompts a day.

Want Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek? That's Enterprise only. Custom price.

I like:

• SEO, content, ads and social in one login
• Pro+ checks 1,500 keywords daily

I don't like:

• Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek locked to Enterprise
• Extra users from $45 a month each

Price: Monthly: SEO $139 (500 keywords), Starter $199, Pro+ $299 (1,500 keywords), Advanced $549 (5,000).

Verdict: Worth it if you use the whole suite. Overkill for positions alone.

Best for: agencies on a budget

Daily ranks on Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube. Down to the ZIP code.

AI tracking is in the same plan. AI Overviews, ChatGPT, AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini.

No Copilot. Some lists say it has it. Its own page doesn't.

I like:

• 14-day trial, no card

I don't like:

A pure rank tracker. No suite.

You can refresh a keyword or a whole domain every two hours. That's the selling point.

AccuLLM tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode. No Copilot.

I like:

• Unlimited users and domains

I don't like:

• $224 to start. Ouch
• No backlinks, no audits

Ranks update weekly. Daily only on Agency.

AI Search Watcher lists eight engines, including Grok and Claude. No Copilot. No DeepSeek.

I like:

• One simple visibility score

I don't like:

• Weekly updates below Agency
• Agency caps at 1,500 keywords

Verdict: Great for one person. Too small above 1,500 keywords.

Best for: unlimited keywords, no monthly fee

A desktop app. Windows, Mac, Linux.

Unlimited keywords. Really.

The catch: it is a desktop app, not a web tool. Paid versions send Google checks through the vendor's Safe Query Mode, so you see no CAPTCHAs. The free version uses your own IP, and Google can show CAPTCHAs.

I like:

• Unlimited keywords on paid plans
• A free plan for one project

I don't like:

• A desktop app, not a web tool
• AI tracking is AI Overviews only

Price: Yearly: Free, Professional $349 a year, Enterprise $599 a year.

Verdict: For people who hate subscriptions. Not for AI tracking.

Daily updates on every plan. That's rare at this price.

No AI tracking. No backlinks.

I like:

Verdict: Run it next to every tool on this list.

Best for: agencies with dozens of clients
